A tight ninety minute classic film noir that explores corruption, vengeance and moral ambiguity almost flawlessly - both visually but also in its suspenseful and complex narrative. Glenn Ford delivers a compelling performance as a crusading detective torn between personal revenge and professional duty, on a Fritz Lang masterpiece assembled with sharp dialogue, a fantastic cinematography and the lovely Jocelyn Brando (Marlon Brando oldest sister).
