Rowdy Herrington’s "
Striking Distance" is one of those scrappy 90's action thrillers that critics unfairly sank. Bruce Willis in full smirk-and-punch mode and a plot that mixes cop family drama with serial-killer suspense. Herrington, who gave us the great original "
Road House", brings the same mix of macho swagger and tongue-in-cheek energy, turning what could have been a routine cop thriller into something oddly fun and rewatchable. It’s messy, sure, but that’s part of the charm, pure underrated action gold.
